Octopus Tracker
I am confused by this. I have a smart meter and am the V2 2025 fixed tariff till February. However according to the energy tracker, its more expensive than some variable tariffs.
People seem to have got good results with the old tracker but the new one is more expensive.
Does anyone have any thoughts. I have a 3 bed semi detached home but single occupancy.
cheers

Check your costs against the prices from October. I've just fixed mine and was told it will be a little bit more expensive for this month but definitely cheaper once the price cap rises0

Is there a reason why you have not asked this on the tracker thread?0

I don't see a problem asking a specific question in a separate thread. The answer to the question is that Tracker is absolutely not guaranteed to always be cheaper than standard variable rate. It's not even guaranteed to ever be cheaper.
It has been cheaper in the past and people join hoping this will continue, yet also accepting that it is their risk.
This is why I've never been comfortable seeing it promoted on here as a sure-fire money saver, sometimes to people clearly tight for cash.

It's not even guaranteed to ever be cheaper. The unit cost can rise to £1.00 per kWh for electricity, and 30p for gas. So potential for rates to rise well above OFGEM's price cap. Electricity got pretty close to price cap last week (I think it went over for some new signees). If you want stability and a guaranteed price, tracker is not for you. On the other hand, if you can cope with the spikes, there is a potential saving to be had.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
