Want to ask for a friend. If claiming contribution based ESA in the support group and on tax credits. Does that mean will not move to UC?

They will remain on contribution based esa, But will still have to move to universal credit because  Tax credits are stopping
The esa will remain in payment bur  will be deducted in full from any universal credit payment

But I thought there are a group of people on ESA who tax credit are not migrating over to UC until 2029?

It will happen sooner than that. Those cla⁹iming tax credits will be moved first because tax credits are stopping completely next April

It's a real shame as the friend as been migrated over and thought she had moved over by mistake. Uc is not a very nice benefit system the government really needs to make changes.

Why would they think it was a mistake? If they are now on UC then they must have actively claimed it, no one is moved across automatically.
As for being better or worse, they're different benefits with different qualification criteria. If you think some aspects need changing then contact your MP.

We were claiming contributions ESA and tax credits and were invited to migrate about 4 months ago. Apart from initially not giving us transitional protection, which was sorted by a quick message in my journal, we have had no more issues.
