Acoustic panels….wood lifting off backing after 9 months

long winded one I’m afraid but anyone suggest my next steps ?
I purchased online from the wood veneer hub U.K. (WVH) some acoustic panels for our walls .
they are called Slat-Lite as unlike normal acoustic panels these are very lightweight and have the wood stuck on the backing felt material that is very thin like a lolly stick .
They are not acoustic just decorative and are that light the fitter just used a builders adhesive as recommended by WVH. Fitted early December 23 the wood has started to lift and come away from backing in certain places ….
wrote to WVH who far from trying to rectify the fault suggested I glue them back down with super glue .
I paid over a thousand pounds for the order and would expect a reasonable amount of time before the need to replace but 9 months is ridiculous.
WVH are refusing to do anything other than sell me the order again with 50% discount .
i did email them mentioning Sale of goods act they seem to think if the panels develop a fault within a short time it’s tough luck if I understand the reply they replied with this.
Hi Adam, I hope this message finds you well. You are absolutely right in asserting your right to reject faulty products. However, at the time of delivery, the items in question were in proper condition and were accepted by you upon installation. As more than six months have passed since the purchase, it is now your responsibility to demonstrate that the external factors previously discussed did not contribute to the current issues with the panels. I fully understand your frustration in this matter. However, there is no indication that the panels were originally defective, nor that external influences did not play a role in their current condition. We can recommend gluing the veneer back down, or alternatively we can offer replacement panels at 50% off. Please confirm how you wish to proceed. Kind regards, | |
