You've lost me here. You wouldn't get childcare element of tax credits unless you were working 16 hours. I suggested childcare vouchers to pay for childcare so you didn't have to work 16 hours.
oh right ok... but we can't afford the childcare unless we get tax credits help. The vouchers come out of Ste's salary and the reduction month to month wouldn't be enough to cover the bills and as I wouldn't be working we wouldn't have any extra money to pay them...

In which case you shouldn't use the vouchers. You should just use the childcare element of tax credits cos that will pay upto 80% of costs(but will require you working 16nhours to qualify).

ETA though you should look into whether and how much by tax credits will increase if Ste is salary sacrificing for the childcare vouchers.

Sorry I'm answering in short answers (2 kids nagging me:rolleyes: ). If you're still looking for ideas to fit a 16 hour a week job in. What time does Ste get in. I used to work 2 evenings 6pm-11pm plus 1 w/end morning 8am-1pm (15 hrs in total) but they would have upped it another hour if I'd needed it. This was at a convenience store that sold lottery tickets. Later I worked for a diy chain mon-fri 5pm-8pm (again 15 hours, but I'm sure they could have found an extra hour if I'd needed it).
  • Hi, IA, I've not posted on here for a while (took me ages to get up to date with the diaries!), but just wanted to say hello and that I enjoy reading your posts and think you're an inspiration to lots of people. Keep up the good work!
