Trying to pay balance for holiday due at weekend. Santander making this process unbelievably hard and despite spending 5 hours answering their over the top security questions their app would not take
Their required security photos and despite over 8 attempts and having to restart at each attempt I have still not Managed to make a payment.

Obviously a change of bank but not ideal so close to a holiday.
Anyone else suffered anything similar their online telephone service just goes round in circles impossible to reach a human and the chat bot closes earlier than they say!

Probably one for the banking board, as the fact that you're trying to pay for a holiday is essentially tangential to your complaints about the bank, its app, its security processes, and its services.1

I've been a Santander customer for quite a few years now - never had any major issues - usually get a reasonably quick pickup on 'phone enquiries and any difficulties efficiently actioned - maybe just lucky ?

Thanks for replies I have no idea how to move threads. And yes you have been lucky. Prior to a previous holiday whilst in branch they suggested a better account than the 123 I agreed and said leave it to next month as I will be on holiday. 3 days into holiday card stopped working and when telephoned their reply was oh sorry we have posted your card to home address so you will have it when you get home!
should have learnt lesson then. Tried phone for 3 hours this evening if answered or mainly aim told go online or Call tomorrow

There's an option right at the bottom to move or merge.0 -
Thank you will give it a go. Been into branch who were along the lines of another silly senior. We sat in the foyer as he attempted to show me how to do it-after several red face attempts had to agree it was not working and decided they must have recently updated the app! Alll done now crisis averted Still no apologies but expected.0

I use the app on my iPhone for checking transactions and balances etc., it's the way to do so when not at home - although I much prefer the "normal" website version on my desk laptop when it come to managing accounts.Santander did introduce a revised format app version, however that was quite a few weeks ago now, don't think it has been recently updated since.0

What sort of phone are you using? With all the different hardware configurations Android apps in particular will sometimes work correctly on some phones but not others. Also, some phones are getting pretty ancient and will only run old versions of the OS.0 -
in my experience Santander and Lloyds have been the worst for making larger payments and requiring you to jump through hoops
Nationwide have been the easiest
Again this is just my experience over the years0
