This is the third letter I have received asking for payment on a purchase I bought in June.
This is the third letter I have received asking for payment on a purchase I bought in June.
The FEDEX guy said it was a scam but don't want Bodger and Biffer on my doorstep.
The first letter was for unpaid duties but the seller assured me they had paid the import fees and taxes. The first letter also said they were holding onto my purchase until payment, but I had already received it.
The cost of item was £55 by the way.
The thing that makes me question is that it had my details and the product, a fragrance from Italy in the first letter.

You probably dont want your name and address on a public forum
Who is the "Fedex guy"?
It isn't a "scam"... the QR and the website address for payment is genuinely Fedex whereas a scammer clearly would have some spurious website mocked up to look like FedEx but actually paying to them. Similarly the account and sort code are a FedEx bank account.
It could be a "mistake" that the invoice has been raised if the sender says they already paid them. How did you make the purchase? On eBay or Amazon or directly from the sellers own website2 -
It's the second one on here in a week with a similar story. Obviously not enough to make a pattern but it could be that FedEx are either sending in error or there's some other charge that we don't know about.I'd dispute it with FedEx.They aren't going to send anyone round or even take you to court.
One other outside possibility is that the seller either sent a duplicate item or something else in error and didn't pay the fees on the second one and FedEx are holding it. If that is the case they can't hold you liable for someone else's error..1 -

What's the breakdown of the charges that FEDEX are invoicing for?0

Fedex tend to deliver and then recover Import Vat, Import Duty (If relevant) and handling charge at a later date.
They are in effect making payment on your behalf and simply then recovering.
Most companies charge before delivering and even if the charges are "wrong" you have to pay them to have any chance of receiving your goods.
In your case simply get proof you have paid any taxes due and submit to Fedex.1 -

That's a great idea, the company I bought from are only saying they paid the duty I haven't seen any proof.

So I re contacted the online shop/email they used..They said to pay it and then they would reimburse me if I sent invoice.Something seemed wrong as they previously said they had already paid duty and after sending them invoice they have not replied.I couldn't find a phone number but thought hang on what about an app and sure enough got all info about my parcel without any mention of being held or any duty or tax needing to be paid.Maybe all correspondence was spam ?....

It would be simpler if they paid directly. I'd ask them to do this and let Fedex know that the sender will be settling the bill. This seller does sound a bit dodgy.
