Umbrella Tip

My otherwise perfect, but years old, M&S umbrella has lost its screw-on tip. I chatted on-line and on the phone to M&S reps but neither rep could help in any way.
I don't want to dump the umbrella - help!

A picture might help, if possible. But the first question - is the tip essential to the operation of the umbrella, or is it purely cosmetic?Without knowing what it looks like it's hard to visualise - but if it's just cosmetic I'm thinking you could perhaps use some tape, perhaps melt some wax over it. Or how about trying to make your own replacement out of an old cork - cut to an appropriate size, make a hole in the centre and screw it on. Might look quite nattyOf course, the cork idea does mean you'd need to open and drink a bottle of wine, but that seems a small sacrifice to make for the sake of art1

Visit an old fashion hardware store and try and find a bolt or screw that will go in the hole.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -
Excellent ideas - thanks. Milliput might do it too.
