Data Breach by TSB

The wife and I had a joint account.

A few years ago we seperated our accounts.

They seperated our current account but left the savings account joint for some reason, sending the statement for it in both names. I complained and they apologised and paid me a small amount of money.

Recently, she signed up for Internet banking and noticed that the savings account is still also in her name as it came up on her banking app.

We don't always check our paper post and I noticed they'd carried on sending paper statements even after and since I had last complained.

It's caused a lot of agro between her and me now that she knows how much i've been spending (my money) and that i've not left much in the rainy day pot.

Should I speak to a solicitor or to the bank again? How much are they likely to compensate me if anything at all?

I'm not bothered about the money but it might placate the wife a bit, knowing we've got summat in the rainy day pot. How much should I settle for?

Should I speak to a solicitor
if you engage a solicitor you will suffer the costs.  TSB wont cover those.  The complaints process for financial services is free of charge to use.

    Probably around £250

You need to raise a complaint to the bank themselves in the first instance, via their official internal complaints procedure.  If you're not satisfied with the resolution, you can then escalate to the FOS.

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
