DVLA passed debt to past due but I knew nothing about it

Bit complicated

Can I appeal after a fine has been passed to a credit agency if I can prove I didn't recieve any reminders?

Bought new car last year from main dealer.
Garage registered it incorrectly with DVLA. They omitted my house number and road name. They also claim DVLA did not query this 🤔.

Hence I never received the V5 (didnt notice) or any other correspondence.
I have been ill myself, carer for my >90 Yr old mum who has also been ill so been a bit preoccupied. (Just a reason)

Missed taxing it (although it's zero tax this year) and obs didn't recieve any reminders as DVLA didn't have my full address.

DVLA as they can't find me passed to 'Pastdue' who have found me and asked me to pay the fine I never knew about because I did not recieve any reminders.

you will be better taking this to the ftla site for advice as they have more specialists on there for this sort of thing.

    as for here:
As far as i know tax or no tax, mot or insurance it's up to the registered keeper to check and ensure these are up to date and valid not for someone to send reminders it is a binary thing it either is or is not and the responsibility lies with the registered keeper.
you can check the status of a vehicle online  just Google dvla vehicle check and it will tell you the date when tax is due and mot

By all means take this to the ftla site  but don't expect miracles, i believe you have very little to no wiggle room on paying this  but they can advise further

I would also ask your own MP to get involved in the complaint on your behalf.

What is this "fine" you talk of? Who issued the "fine" and for what "offence"? Please be a bit more specific when you ask for advice.

As advised above, ignore the debt collectors. Why have you not corrected the address on your V5C since you found it had been entered incorrectly? It takes a few minutes to do it online.

this appears to be a DVLA fine for the offence of an untaxed vehicle
