Cancelling airport parking booked online

I guess if you just book a rectangle of land then that's true but the service includes valet parking and taking care of the car neither of which they can perform if you don't turn upHillStreetBlues said:Turning up isn't part of the contact, the parking space is, but using it isn't.
The OP tried to breach the contract by parking and not leaving the key (or in this case phone).

I agree with you. Our car's value is probably less than 4 figures (a 2012 Mondeo) and we certainly wouldn't hand our keys over to a complete stranger while we go on holiday for a couple of weeks.Aylesbury_Duck said:I'm amazed that anyone would hand their expensive car and key to a complete stranger. To consider handing over a phone as well is even more surprising...
I know this is a money saving site but some people choose to take the cheapest (but most risky) route in situations that I find incomprehensible.
I'm also not sure about this proposed solution

Ah. I suppose the car park could have installed the app and used the OP's login? It doesn't literally need to be the driver's phone.HillStreetBlues said:
OP only realised after getting to car park so didn't have any other keys with them.user1977 said:Surely other keys are available? What happens when you eg put the car in for servicing?1 -
I'm not overly familiar with the app, but if the most it does is let you drive the car, how is that any worse than handing over a traditional key? Probably even more secure given the owner could change the login (e.g. after their return) to prevent future misuse.Okell said:

Trouble is with Valet parking, or pick up & drop off, you are going to have to leave your keys.
Tesla do come with 2 key cards. So in reality they should be carried at all times, in case of loss of phone or a flat battery on phone.

May as well give then your credit card and PIN while you're at it. They deserve a coffee after all that driving. 😁Okell said:
