Potential Changes to IHT rate

If the IHT rate changes from 40% to 45% in the October Budget, will those that have already started the probate process be protected from the rise or will they also pay the 45%?

We'll have to wait and see what the budget brings. Endless speculation is pointless.

I would expect any changes to be implemented from the date of someone's death - i.e. for estates where the person dies after the change comes in.
  • It is highly unlikely that a rate hike would be backdated, if it was it would affect all estates caught by the back dating regardless of what stage the winding up had got too.
