Gazette and local paper notice if executors are sole beneficiaries

muchembe said:Thanks all. Looks like there is benefit in the Gazette entry and some doubt whether the local papers thing is necessary. However, on my original specific question it seems clear there is no benefit at all in doing either if executors and beneficiaries are exactly the same people.Yes. It's beneficial for executors who are not beneficiaries (e.g. solicitors). If a creditor appears at some later date after funds have been distributed - they could in theory pursue the Executors and/or beneficiaries for that money. If the Executors placed a Gazette notice - then they may be protected and the creditor would need to pursue the beneficiaries. But if the Executors and beneficiaries are the same people - doesn't make much difference in what capacity they are pursued.1
