Sony Shops have the 5 yr on 'selected' TV's. and the Empiredirect deal is only 3 years (in total) and the £20 gets you membership of the extra 'club' which will get you a free extended warranty on anything over £200 (I think) but they do not have the best reputation.
If you are near Manchester you might have better luck with getting John Lewis to price match one of EmpireDirect's stores. I think they have stores within the radius limit of the Trafford Centre and Cheadle under their 'Never knowingly undersold' policy in store only not internet). It'll mean a trip out though and is dependant on them both selling the same TV and it being in stock.

I have had luck with JL price match at the Cheadle store. The man didn't really want me to buy a coffee machine - and when I got home I realised why - it had been matched down by £95! I was on the phone that min and had it delivered next day for free by parcel force.

Have bought 19" LCD + DVD combo for daughter from M&S, only because of the 5 year cover. Price was OK too with Quidco and MORE points.
