Just had a Everest rep called by appointment, to give a quote for replacing gutters, soffits and fascia boards for a bungalow. Astounded at a £6800 quote.
Called a local roofer and quoted £2300. No need to guess who I am going to choose

Is there a consumer rights question?

While I'd usually recommend a local firm than one of the "big nationals", don't choose solely on price.  Plenty of threads on here from people who've done so and regretted it.

This feels familiar to a thread made a couple of weeks ago about a high quote replacing guttering on a bungalow - maybe its deja vu.

As above, while it's great to hear you got the price down (hopefully they are reputable), I'm not sure what the question is !
    Know what you don't

Just as well, Everest are in Administration, if you had paid up front you could easily have lost the lot.

No, they were bought by Anglian in April so it would be the "new" company you'd be dealing with.
