Universal Credit - How much need I earn?

Hi. I've just been migrated to Universal Credit, and I find I'm not earning enough for their taste. As I understand it I must earn at least £892 per month to get the DWP off my back. As it happens, I do have the chance to take an additional part-time job which would bring my total earnings up to more than £892 before pension contributions are taken off, but below £892 after their taken off. Would that keep them happy?

If you take the extra work you will be better off than you are now, if it places you into the light touch regime it will 'get DWP off your back' and you could increase pension contributions to improve your situation in retirement.I suppose the real question is why wouldn't you take the extra work?2

Does it matter what would make them happy? If you have the chance to earn extra income why would you not take it.2
