Can anyone give me some advice on a no win no fee solicitor charges.
When we originally phoned and signed up we were told it would be UPTO 25% only for work which had been done .
An offer has been made and which we have been advised to take but say they will be taking the full 25% as a winners fee . I checked the small print and it does mention the 25% but I asked several times online and on the phone beforehand about the fees and they said upto 25%.
is this normal ?
I have seen sites like "Get your fees" but not too sure if its worth going down this route.

They've done what they said, 25% is "up to 25%".
There are various models of charging for solicitors work and you ultimately need to read the fine print of what you signed up to. Some are a flat percentage, some will work out what the cash price for their work was, remove the success fee the defendant had to pay and set the percentage of your fee they can retain up to the lower of the percentage to cover their costs and 25%.
So for example if you won £10,000 compensation, their costs were £3,000. They get £1,300 from the defendant as fast track fix costs so that leaves £1,700 owed and so they'd charge 17% as that gets them their full fees covered and is less than 25%. If it was a £5,000 compensation award they'd only get £600 from the defendant leaving £2,400 owed which is more than 25% so the success fee from you would be the full 25% and they lose the rest.0 -
