i have an old millennium with profits pension with standard life that was taken out in 1988. Not a huge amount in it but in recent years I became self employed so have been paying small monthly payments into. I've been told that what I pay in won't go down but it doesn't grow either. The with profits bit makes 4 % but it's not a huge amount .
Do I transfer it or just leave it and open a new one? Also I've been told a j bell or fidelity are good choices?
im not a huge risk taker just want a bit more growth .

I've been told that what I pay in won't go down but it doesn't grow either. The unit price on the millennium fund will not fall but has a guaranteed minimum growth rate of 4% p.a.Do I transfer it or just leave it and open a new one?It can form the defensive side of your portfolio allowing an alternative to hold more equity and be the adventurous side. Also I've been told a j bell or fidelity are good choices? In what respect? A lot of the time, its personal preference based on what you are looking for from a provider.im not a huge risk taker just want a bit more growth .If you want more then you need to risk more.

I would go with Interactive Investor (https://www.ii.co.uk/). You can choose what funds to invest in to account for your attitude to risk and growth ambitions

Also the OP says "not a huge amount" without being specific. There are some special rules that apply when cashing in small pension pots, so we can't say if these apply. But if they do then that's another reason to leave it be.A little FIRE lights the cigar0
