Chargeback question

Hi, I did a chargeback for a service that was cancelled and was getting no joy for a refund, the service then went ahead after all now the bank have paid me while they do their checks. Shall I ring them and tell them to take the money back or will they just do it automatically?

Leave it on one side, once a chargeback is started it can't be stopped. So unless the company reject the chargeback the funds will stay in your account.
If company contact you about the chargeback, do not pay them. Tell them to reject the chargeback, which they have 45 days to do & they will get their funds that way.

If the merchant disputes the chargeback it will be re-debited to your account.

However I would contact the service provider to see their stance on this.

thank you. I just wanted to clarify that it’s not a bit dodgy? Like I’m trying to claim for something that I’ve used. I don’t care about the company tbh they messed me around and caused a lot of stress but don’t want to get into any kind of trouble obv. At the time I started the chargeback the activity wasn’t going ahead until they reopened last minute.

The money can still be taken from your account, and if as you say - you used the service then it likely will be taken back. So don't spend it, the investigation is ongoing between bank and the provider - and if they successfully prove that you received what you paid for - then money will go their way.
