Adult childcare credits

Hi all,
My eldest daughter had our first grandson and I'm wanting to boost my state pension with Adult Childcare credits as we look after him a couple of days a week but it varies week to week.
My question is she was on extended maternity leave, about 1 year, before returning to full time work.
During the first few months we would look after him for short periods, 1 to 2 hours while she went out food shopping etc.
Q 1, can I claim for the credits for these short periods?
Q 2, will she have enough NI credits, either from Maternity leave and/or Child benefit payments?
We now tend to look after him for a couple of days a week since she returned to work full time.
I've retired being 61yrs old but the Gov.uk website stated I'm short by 5 years.
Thanks All.
Tony.

You can only claim for childcare while your daughter works.
The credits can only be transferred to you if your daughter does not need them as the credits are removed from her to transfer to you.
If her only credits came from maternity allowance or child benefit then she needs them so they are not available to transfer.
If she is working and paying NI through her job then child benefit credits may be available to transfer.
You can only claim after 31 October after the end of the year you wish to claim and your daughter needs to check her NI record to make sure she does not need the child benefit credits herself.0 -
