Getting letters for debts not on my credit report

I moved house last year and have recently been given some forwarded mail.
I have received letters from two different chasers (Cabot and Lowell) demanding payment for credit cards that I don't have anywhere on my TransUnion credit report
Cabot are claiming I owe nearly £500 for a Capital One CC. I do remember having one many years ago but tbh no idea if I paid it or not. It should be noted that Cabot are threatening to send people to my address if I fail to respond.
Lowell are claiming I owe £255 but that if I pay them £75 now, they will close the case.
I am confused because neither of these cards appear as open or closed accounts on my transunion report. I dont want to engage with them if they are just trying it on?

Probably defaulted more than six years ago, or just trying it on.
Send them prove-it letters1 -

Debts are statute barred after 6 years of last acknowledgment. If you are certain that you had the card but it's been more than 6 years since you last admitted or paid towards it, then you can simply use the statute barred letter if they do come back after a prove-it letter
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

The prove-it letter should be sent first, as its specifically worded so as not to acknowledge any debt.
