SCART to Small TV

Hi, not quite money saying - but perhaps someone with knowledge will know the answer!

I'm looking for a small tv that has a scart input for an AV Receiver.

Most of the 24" TV's I can see only have HDI inputs - is there a cable / converter that I could use?

I've seen this:
https://www.partmaster.co.uk/product.pl?pid=3771806&utm_source=google&utm_medium=base&utm_campaign=products&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw3P-2BhAEEiwA3yPhwAkBG486THIZWIdyFTDQumwQRy9tuemWAkCuKFjhSInpNcNkiAZSvRoCBIIQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

But it states that HDMI and SCART use different signals so won't work.

Thanks

There are TVs on Amazon 24" with SCART inputs

The adaptor you've linked to is taking a SCART output from a video or whatever to a TV that doesn't have a SCART input - in other words in days of old when you just connected the device to the TV, you'd just plug it in.  On the Samsung TVs you can't do that so that's the adapter for it to provide that functionality.

There are hundreds of SCART to HDMI converter boxes. They'll all add latency but this is unlikely to be a problem unless you're hooking games consoles through it.

    One random example:

Which AV Receiver do you have?
Presumably you are looking to buy a TV?

What sources are you using going into the AVR?

There are always 2 consideration... the socket and the signal. You cannot use a SCART to HDMI cable because the two signals are different, these sorts of "cables" only work to change the socket shape. Now the problem with SCART is that it could carry multiple signal types (Composite, RGB, S.Video and Component) and even if you had a device with SCART at each end didnt mean it necessarily would work... plug a S.Video SCART into a TV that doesn't support this you'd get a black and white image.

You will need to get a SCART to HDMI convertor but you need to know what video transmitted is going to be to make sure your convertor can cope with it. Most the ones I've seen only support composite which is going to give you the worst picture quality of the different signal types.

SCART only carries Stereo sound so would also question if this is the best connector for an AVR

Yes, looking to buy a TV.

I have an AV sender set which plugs into the back of a box and sends the signal upstairs.

The new TV is for upstairs.

Currently the AV sender kit I have is scart output ( box downstairs ) scart input ( tv upstairs ).

It's not for gaming just TV.

If there is better kit to send the signal I'm happy to look at that - but I guess I need to ensure the output device can handle it.

Buy a TV with a SCART input is likely the best advice. They are a dying breed but they're still out there.

I'm just guessing a bit here on why you need to connect in this manner, , but If you just want to receive tv channels on the upstairs tv (possibly because of the lack of an aerial connection) I would just buy a Roku stick or similar and stream tv via the Internet.

How about a second hand older tv? The smaller sets are often not used much and our heart foundation shop has them for about £20.

yes, but I was hoping for a smart Tv with a scart - less easy to find!

but you're right thats a good idea!
