How complex is the Estate?0

Our solicitor told us that HMRC takes up to 20 working days to provide a code to apply for probate, while probate is currently taking an average of 13 weeks. Hope this helps.0

26 June - I paid IHT to HMRC "on account"
10 July - I posted the IHT400 (and associated IHT forms) to HMRC (Special Delivery Next Day)
10 Aug - I received a letter from HMRC with the code to apply for probate
12 Aug - I submitted an online application for probate
3 Sep - I received an email from HMCTS saying "We approved your application for probate"
10 Sep - I received the Grant of Probate in the post
So - 9 calendar weeks from posting the IHT forms to receiving Grant of Probate. This was for a relatively simple estate. If in doubt... do nowt.0
