Mis-sold Critical injury insurance by Mortgage advisor.

Hi,
2 years ago I bought a share in a help to buy property. Not knowing anything about the process I followed a link to a free Mortgage advisor that I found on the Help to buy website (a .gov site) and they helped me through a few of the steps, but informed me I needed Critical injury insurance. for the Mortgage.
I explained that as part of my works benefits we get Critical injury insurance, but was informed by the advisor that i couldnt use it and had to use an outside company for the insurance. they said they would sort it out for me. So i said ok.
then last month I needed to renew my mortgage and contacted the lender to talk about rates etc and I asked them if i needed this Critical injury insurance or if I could use the one from work and they said I didnt need it and never needed it in the first place as its not a requirement for the mortgage.
My big mistake was telling the advisor that I knew nothing about the whole process.
can someone point me in a direction to see if I can get some or all of this back. Its been 2 years paying £120+ a month for insurance I didnt need.
I realise that the insurance company didnt do this but the mortgage advisor did is there a body I can speak to or should I complain straight to the advisor?
Many thanks in advance

What paperwork do you have, any key facts documents that established a need for the insurance?0

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Its a weak complaint due to lack of evidence but you may get lucky.
