Termination through ill health and redundancy

My hubby works for a USA owned company in the UK. Only 4 employees (including him). His health has declined rapidly over the last year.  Adaptations have been made but the doctor has now said he will never be able to work anywhere and signed him off for 6 months. He will give him more sick notes if he needs them.  We told his employer straight away.  They followed all the procedures- HR, Occupational health etc,  but now they are terminating his employment which we knew they would.  If there are redundancies in the next few months will be be entitled to redundancy pay?

Harsh as it sounds, the company will take the most cost efficient way.

Paying someone potentially 1000s via redundancy when they can have the same end result for practically nothing wouldn’t be good business.

Plus, there is no guarantee that that particular post would be included in redundancies anyway

Can he get his pension paid early due to ill health retirement ( and at value of true retirement age) ?

In the  OP's scenario that is what  i'd be looking for

when my Late  father  was given a  life limiting  diagnosis  and  it was decided  betwene Occy Health and his consultant he'd be unfit to work in any job  ( despite being in the tier below  the Directors  and  generally acknowledged to be prima inter pares  of the  Senior Project Managers in his department and consequently likely the next Director for his department when his several years  older than he was boss retired) so could have  shed  a lot of the practical aspects of  his work to Junior PMs  and  only had to visit the office or sites  infrequently )

His pension was paid up to  the value  it would be if he continued  in his current role until 65 and he was paid a  full salary during his wind -down and hand over period
