Help with setting up Zoom account would be appreciated
I am a Trustee for a community centre charity.
An organisation is providing a presentation lasting an hour plus questions. They are doing it via Zoom.
We do not have a Zoom account and I was wondering the best way to set it up. We only want it as a one off and the free account only gives a 40 min. window.
Does anybody know whether, if we take out a subscription we can cancel in the first month and therefore only incur 1 months fee, or do we have to pay the full year? The former would cost us around a tenner, the latter considerably more.
just in case its important we do not have a Centre laptop, we would need to borrow one, but we do have wifi.
Any advice / pointers would be very helpful.
Many thanks

Only the organisation providing the presentation needs a Zoom account.

If it's just a ono-to-one zoom session, neither party needs an account, as there is no time limit unless 3 or more parties become involved.

Thats strange, my brother and I set up free accounts a couple of months ago. We were cut off after 40 minutes, and we were the only parties on the callvictor2 said:If it's just a ono-to-one zoom session, neither party needs an account, as there is no time limit unless 3 or more parties become involved.0 -

Maybe they've tightened up on it, but I've used it for two people calls for 2 hours at a time with no trouble within the last year or so. You just have to be aware that if you involve a third person or device in the call at any point, that triggers the 40 minute timer and even if the call drops back to two people, the timer keeps going and terminates the call when the time is up.

I regularly use Zoom and there is definitely a 40 minute limit now, even if there are only 2 people. It’s been that way for a few months.
However, after 10 mins you can start another meeting. Or get the person you were talking to to start one straight away.2 -
Thanks for the further comments. I presume that it still stands that if the organiser has an account this will not be a problem0

The 40 minute limit only applies to the host.MisterNick said:Thanks for the further comments. I presume that it still stands that if the organiser has an account this will not be a problem0
