Failed roof repair

In July my roof leak was assessed and the Roofer said the issue was with the box gutter. On reading invoice he stated that the lead work was repaired but nothing about the box gutter. Im a pensioner and paid £600
For less than 30 minutes Work
The leak has now returned, he says he's on holiday until the 16th, I go away on the 12th and really don't want to leave water dripping into my bedroom while I'm away
What are my rights? Do I have to wait for him to return to Repair? What about the ongoing damage caused by the leak, is he liable for this also?
The work is guaranteed for five years, I tried to pay by credit card but he refused
Many thanks

It is possible that when the roofer actually started work, he realised that the lead work was more likely the cause of the leak, so he repaired that rather than the box gutter.Your rights here are under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Are you disputing that £600 is unreasonable for the repairs to the lead work? There is no evidence that the repairs to the lead work have failed. Your leak is causing damage so the responsible thing would be to get any roofer to fix the leak as soon as possible. If it is found that your previous lead roofer's lead work was faulty then you have a claim against him.The roofer repaired the lead work as per the invoice. Whilst he expected this would fix the leak, he has no liability for consequential damages as a result of the leak not being fixed. Maybe try your home insurance company. What is the issue about paying by credit card? A lot of tradespeople don't accept credit card payment. It sounds like you have paperwork detailing the work the roofer did, as well as the guarantee. So I don't see any issue here.1

I guess the credit card thing was with an eye to section 75 protection?
Unlikely to apply I think.0 -

the payment went to his personal account, is this fishy? Credit card payment would have covered me for faulty work
the evidence that the work he did ie fixing the leak is that the leak persisted after his work!0 -
So the roofer has admitted that he is unable to fix the leak, after 3 attempts. I now have damage to my electric supply due to water leaking into a socket under the leak.
When i asked him after the second attempt if this failed what he would do, he said he would refund me. I have a guarantee on the work.
I have asked him to refund as i no longer have any faith in his ability and he had refunded me 50% of what i paid (which on discussion with other roofers is extortionate for the time and work done)
I have reminded him that we had a contract and he has failed to stick to his side of the contract. House insurance doesn't cover accidental damage and i have now lost a full freezer of food as the power went off overnight.
Im at a loss as other than taking him to small claims court i dont see what else i can do
I have an electrician and new roofer coming tomorrow to estimate the cost of the damage and original fault0
