Don't celebrate too soon, but...

I just entered a Bauer Media comp and didn't get the thing where you can only click in the boxes near the bottom of the page. It let me enter my name, when the box was right at the top. It was for this comp:

Course, I can't promise that this was one of the naughty ones that had the problem, but I have a feeling it was.
Go on then, everyone, tell me I'm wrong and ruin my celebration 😝

I’m talking about the issue with Bauer Media competitions, where you can’t click to enter details in the boxes at the top half of the screen.
It’s been discussed here before. It affected lots of us. You could use tabbing to put the curser inside boxes at the top of the screen, or scroll to move the empty boxes lower, then it would let you click to add your name, etc.
It’s been like that for months, but yesterday, it let me click to enter my details with the boxes anywhere on the screen.
Maybe someone else could try to explain it better? @One-Eye if you see this, do you know what I mean?

This is what I mean. Like with this competition, you can't enter details in the boxes, when they're at the top of the page:

I was hoping the fact that I could enter the Bauer Media comp that I mentioned in the OP meant they'd fixed it. But clearly they haven't.

Never been an issue for me (chrome - no ad blockers). Chat, which isn't Bauer, has annoying pop ups1

It is still happening.
For example - the main TAB Puzzles page -https://www.puzzleshq.com/competitions/
This is the full screen - and imagine the blue line is fixed about half way up the screen. If you want to click on the link ringed in red you have to scroll the page so it is below the blue line. The same applies to any box on an entry form - it must be in the lower half of your screen for you to be able to click into it.
It is definitely an ad-blocker problem. Turn the ad-blocker off and you can access links/boxes wherever they appear on the page. You have to make your own choice whether to turn the ad-blocker off and live with the ads, or live with the half-screen problem.2 -
Thanks One-Eye

I had a feeling that I would've tried that before, when it first was posted about on the forum.

It's an issue with the "floating" ad that moves/gets placed at the top of the page, it has some sort of ad-container element across the screen that sometimes tries to "float" the ad into the top half of the page when scrolled down, but something is going wrong.
Using the "picker" tool in adblock/ublock and hovering over the area that is "blocked", you can actually block that element altogether, and use the page again, but that's a bit technical/a pain - but reveals the name of the element too (eg for that bella page above the faulty element causing the block is called ".article_is-sticky__pm9El.article_billboard__X_edx.article_adContainer--zero_margins__78jbh.article_adContainer__qr_Hd")
There should be a way to write a generic rule that catches that specific problem on all pages, but I'm not sure how to make more "generic" catch-all rules, maybe someone else could help.3
