Hello can someone please help with a non-refundable booking.

Options
I have booked (Booking.com) a non-refundable apartment in Nerja, Spain, for next Wednesday but I have just noticed something. The bedroom window doesn't have any curtains or blinds or shutters. Nothing to block the light or stop others from peering in. Obviously that's completely unnacceptable, but is it even legal? Surely not. Surely any bedroom must have means of privacy by right. Is this grounds to cancel? Please help. How do I proceed? Very high stress right now.

Thanks.

    It's a non-refundable booking.

I'm not sure there's any law that requires curtains/shutters/blinds over windows, so I can't see any grounds for a refund.

No reason to cancel there - and it's non refundable - which means it's non refundable.

If you're worried about privacy - take some A4 sheets of paper and some bluetac - and stick the paper all over the windows at night.

There might be curtains when you get there anyway - it might be an old image.

    Unusual, yes.

Illegal, unlikely, unless you are quoting Spanish law.

Cannot see you have grounds for cancelling, just take a couple of large bin bags and some tape.

Maybe it has blinds set into the window, just take a few tea towels with you to cover the window.

  • It is possible the window has persianas, just ask them to find out.

How do you know with certainty that there is nothing to cover the windows?  Could there be external shutters to close at night?

Seriously can't believe someone thought it might be illegal for windows not to have curtains/blinds etc.
