Just checked my credit report and was surprised to see that Dudley Building Society did four soft searches on me in 2022.
I only had one regular savings account with them, opened during my carpetbagging days in the early 90s and closed in 2012.
Why would they do searches on me 10 yrs after I closed my one and only account with them?

If you didn’t apply for an account, at worst someone else posing as you tried to open one. But it’s more likely some sort of admin exercise by Dudley on their existing customer base. Ask them. Nothing to worry about soft searches, anyway, as only you and the searchers, and the CRA, ever know about it1

Possibly they were looking for an address as there's a bit of ££ left in the account? Definitely closed. I managed to find my one and only passbook. Stamped "CLOSED ACCOUNT" on every page. Date of closure was actually 29/4/13.wmb194 said:

Checked my credit report again and it says:- Reason for check: Anti-Money Laundering: Date: 18 Oct 2022.
Was going to phone them today but they closed at 4pm. Will try tomorrow.0
