Can I keep it?

I bought a power saw online recently and when it was assembled, there were a couple of small fastenings missing.
I contacted the company about this and apparently they weren’t able to simply send those couple of small parts to me. Instead, they sent me a second power saw and suggested that I remove the couple of bits I needed and were missing from the original item.

I have since contacted them several times to attempt to arrange collection of the second saw, however they don’t respond.
What should my next steps be? I’m keen to return this to them as soon as possible as it’s in a large box and taking up space, but they don’t seem to want it.
At what point am I legally allowed to keep it and claim it as my own? I was planning to send one final email to them stating that if it’s not collected in the next few days, I will keep it - would that be allowed?
Thank you

Sort of. You have to give them a reasonable time to make arrangements at which point you can sell it at a reasonable price and have the proceeds ready should they want to claim them in the next six years.
I'd give them 14 days to organise collection or return otherwise you'll sell it and make the proceeds available should they wish to claim them.0 -
They sent you a second saw and suggested you remove the necessary bits from the second saw and fit them to the first saw?!?!Squidger21 said:I bought a power saw online recently and when it was assembled, there were a couple of small fastenings missing.

Why wouldn't you simply keep the second saw and return the first?
Otherwise as per Aylesbury_duck1 -

The assembled saw probably looks like this...but arrives in a box containing lots of bits in plastic bags.
The missing parts are perhaps two of the little red feet or a nut and a bolt.
Why go to all the trouble of taking that thing apart and stuffing it back into its box and then spend another few hours assembling an identical one?4 -
Thank you, that’s really helpful.Aylesbury_Duck said:Sort of. You have to give them a reasonable time to make arrangements at which point you can sell it at a reasonable price and have the proceeds ready should they want to claim them in the next six years.

That’s exactly it, thanks! It literally was just a couple of tiny fixings missing, so it’s mad that they sent a whole new saw out. If they do collect the saw and it ends up being sent out to another customer, they’ll have exactly the same issue we had with the missing parts.Alderbank said:

Are you sure they are getting your emails? Wouldn't a phone call be better?0
-
Yes, they’re definitely being received as we were liaising about the replacement item and delivery. They completely ignored the questions about collection and how to arrange.GrubbyGirl_2 said:Are you sure they are getting your emails? Wouldn't a phone call be better?0 -
Either they had one is stock and sent you that, or sent directly from the manufacture.
Both ways they aren't going to pay postage for a big box and then pay for a the return of the big box, when al that's needed is some small fittings.
