Hi
We got our motab car in April and sadly someone crashed into us in July. So not long at all. We have been waiting since then to get a rear bumper sorted but with the global parts problem it's been painful waiting.
Also the hire car we had was totally not suitable. A jeep thatu husband was told is self charging but it was not. It did not have electric cable and we don't have electric charging point at home. Also there was only one place to charge it. It cost us 10 quidba day I. Fuel. We got that changed to a juke hybrid but it's been on but we want a car that is suited to us.
So my husband called the garage and now the parts are on major back order so no idea when we will get them. Plus it's costing the company 3k a month on hire car. So he asked can we just call it a day and write the car off as it will likely going to cost more than it's worth. I asked motab how long we would have to find a new car and they said 3 months so that potentially another 9k on hire car fees so 15k hudt on hire car fees.
So our car was a renault captur e tech engineered and we went to a renault garage last week. They said they don't make them anymore and actually only 10 cars available to order now. That js probably another reason for a massive delay as they won't make the parts for the car.
We are now looking at potential cars and we have looked at pegout but it just didn't feel right, mokka the doors are too restricting and jeep avenger would be 6 months wait..we are highly likely to go for the alpine capture. It's a brand new range so more likely to be made for longer .
My family thinks we should go for a different brand but we have been honest with ourselves and the reason why we went for capture is because it ticks all the boxes. Comfort. Ease to get in and out, storage and my husband feels comfortable driving it.
Do you think we are mad if we got another car from same company?

At the end the day only you can decide what car you want to drive/order.
Have Motability agreed to yours being written off?
It certainly won't be 3k a month for the hire car.
It is also very unlikely that a car manufacturer will no longer be making car parts for a car that's less than 3 years old.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters.
