Out of interest, what's the split on childcare? Is it anything like 50/50, or do you do more?
We do 50/50 week on week off

I think that may be helpful: if you end up needing to use his father's address in order to make the application, then it doesn't seem 'unfair' or unreasonable. Also I am way out of touch on Child Benefit these days, but might there be value in changing the parent claiming (if eligible)?

Out of interest "Is it anything like 50/50, or do you do more? " why is the assumption she might do more as opposed to less ? Feels like were still a bit stuck in the 1980's dads often do more in these situations.

Well I apologise for any offence. It just seemed to me that a child was likely to be regarded as living at whichever address they spent most time at. Since it's genuinely 50/50, using dad's address seems reasonable and justifiable. That was where I was going with the question rather than any critique of modern parenting patterns.

It's some years ago that I made applications for mine but I have a vague memory that this scenario was covered in the accompanying booklet we received and said if shared residency then the household used was the one where the child resided more but in the case of 50/50 it was up to the parents to decide, However this is a while back and not all schools/area have the same policies. I would echo the suggestion to talk to the 3 schools concerned (current Primary and the 2 potential Secondarys) as well as the LA.

If 50/50 they may look at where the child spends more week nights, as opposed to weekends, where the child benefit is registered, GP address, etc. I would get as many things registered to your ex husband's address as is practical and ask his local council schools admissions team for advice.
