Ovo Energy MSE offer vs website tariff
Hi all,
I am looking to switch from my Octopus variable rate tariff to a fixed rate in anticipation of the price cap rise in October. I looked on MSE energy club and best fixed atm looks like Ovo. Although when I go to the actual website the tariff info look different - the unit charges are the same but the standing charges are almost double than those in the MSE club info sheet. - making me wonder if Ovo will in fact be cheaper than Octopus fixed or any other providers. They also dont give the same UK average estimate so all feels a bit misleading and trying to confuse customers. In the quote they dont ask for my current usage so the quote isn't really that helpful. MSE says the monthly charge should be about £45 pm but Ovo same tariff says £98 (I guess using some other UK average estimate). Any thoughts and advice pls? I have a smart meter and am a low gas and elec user. Thanks!

When I looked the other day Outfox The Market unit rates significantly cheaper than Octopus for both fuels albeit Octopus now offering 15 month fix instead of 12 month fix with no exit fees.3 -
Yes me too.I wanted the one year fixed + boiler cover. An hour in and out of hold for them to tell me I need to switch to their monthly variable first and then they can quote for a fixed deal. When I pushed them for some figures on their cheapest fixed rate, kWh was ok but the daily charge was 68p which equates to £108/yr more than on MSE and that’s just for the Electric!Didn’t waste anymore time asking for the Gas figures.0
