House vandalised when I was in because Sky security is broken, are they liabel?

There is a glitch with Sky Protect devices at the moment and they are not sending notifications. 2 days ago someone vandalised my home right in front of my Sky doorbell, when I was in.
Should I expect Sky insurance to pay for the repair and wave any excess and future penalties?

Your insurance will pay for the damage covered by the policy, sure. That's what it's there for.
It's unlikely that they will cover your excess, and if you have had a claim then your costs will be higher in future.
You can always ask, but the T&Cs of the service probably point out that there is no guarantee of 24/7 availability etc etc1 -
Ultimately, read the terms of the contract.
I'd argue no... the vandal will have no idea if the system is working or not and so decided to take their action with the risk. It's therefore likely that some damage would have been done even if the system was fully working. If it could have reduced the damage had it been working would be dependent on how you have it setup... for example my wife's phone only gets notifications if someone presses the doorbell. I get notifications if anyone goes into Zone 1 at any time, Zone 2 if I am out the house and zone 3 triggers recording but no notification.
Almost undoubtably the T&Cs state they accept no liability for the system outside of statutory requirements of if it caused injury when operated due to a manufacturing defect0 -
