Amazon making life difficult

As a very senior citizen I can't cope with a smartphone despite several attempts and grandson's help.

I make extensive use of the desktop PC, including many Amazon purchases.

The returns options have frequently been altered  and the latest only offers one way that does not need a smartphone. This is to print a label and have Royal Mail collect the item on a predetermined date.  Someone must be in so a whole day could be wasted waiting.

I just sent back an SSD drive.. I was given the option to print out a QR code which the post office scanned. Are you sure this isn't an option for your account?
  • I've done that on all previous returns but it was not on the list of options yesterday.
  • I also do not have a smart phone and had problems even buying from Amazon.  My solution is to buy elsewhere and if the product can only be found on Amazon, my son buys it for delivery to my address and I reimburse him.  N.B Without a smart phone my finances are more secure as I found recently when a scammer texted me obviously not realising it was to an android.  My bank quickly removed pending unauthorised payments.

When I did not have a smart phone and ws unable to print label I contacted Amazon and they gave me a manual address  to write on the parcel.

I don't understand that at all.

So, someone sent you a text, and you have an android phone (but not a smartphone?), somehow from that there were unauthorised payment attempts from your bank account?

Sounds like nonsense to me, or just a coincidence.
