Anyone heard of My Auto Service Plan?

Options
Hi All,

I was recently persuaded by my mechanic to take out a car service plan as he suggested the next time I put my car in service the bill could be really high giving the number of advisories.

Anyway, I signed up with My Auto Service Plan however I could not find any reviews of them on Google or Trust Pilot. Further more, I have called them twice to ask some questions and they haven't bothered to get back to me even though I gave them all my contact details (which is a worrying sign).

The service plan also only entitles me to £250 of spend in the first year and £500 in the second year; I think up to a max of £2500.

Anyway, was wondering if any driver has heard of this company and what are your general views on car service plans.

I got 3 days left on my cooling off period.

Thanks

Personally I would cancel and not sign up until I was completely clear on the benefits.

  • You signed up to a plan or service contract with no idea what it is or does as such.
That sounds like a good idea NOT.

The Peugeot garage I use was offering a deal when you went in for your service.
Instead of paying full price today you pay half and set up a DD for the next year service.
It worked out that you got 2 service for the price of one, £360, £180 for year one and £15 a month for year 2.
A great deal for main dealer. People still turned the offer down. I signed up for 5 years at £14.99 a month.
Peugeot want £480 this year for my service, I’ve paid £180.
Oil & Filter, Air filter, Pollen filters, Fuel filter, Brake fluid change, Adblue top up.
I have moved 175 miles from the dealer this year but it’s still worth travelling do to get it serviced.

Cancel quick! Your mechanic tells you the car will need expensive work but you then take out a service plan that won't cover expensive work. Seems pointless even if they would pay out which they may well not do. If it was that easy to avoid paying for repairs then these companies would go bust very quickly.
BTW does the mechanic get a commission for selling these plans?
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

I cancelled double quick! And as suggested by others it's just as effective if not more tucking that money into a savings account tagged for car repairs.

The thing that really concerned me was that I called them twice to enquire about the specifics of the policy and twice they never returned my call (a bad omen in my view; imagine trying to deal with them regarding a claim).

Also you have to use their list of garages which is also restrictive and I could not find any reviews anywhere online nor on TrustPilot so trusted my instincts and cancelled it!

The garage probably gets commission as he called me soon afterwards just to tell me how it all works.
  • I actually had a really good experience with the these lot. I liked the idea of having a dedicated list of garages because it gave me peace of mind knowing they’ve been vetted for quality. The process was straightforward, and the garage was quick to explain everything to me in detail, which I appreciated.

As for customer service, I’ve had no issues—they were responsive when I reached out. While I know some prefer putting money aside for car repairs, I personally feel more secure having a policy in place. It's great to have different options, but overall, I've been happy with my decision!
