Winter fuel allowance-am I entitled.

Hi,
I am over state pension age by about 10 months, and my partner gets child tax credits paid into her bank account for our child. I get almost full state pension no pension credit.
My income is always taken into consideration when assessing child tax credit.
Just wondering if I am entitled to Winter fuel allowance under the government new rules.
Many thanks for any clarification.

Assuming you live in England or Wales then no you will not be entitled. https://www.gov.uk/winter-fuel-payment/eligibility1

According to Age UK you will be entitled but poppy's link (to gov.uk) suggests not. AgeUK lists the qualifying benefits and while most are the same as those listed at the gov.uk link, AgeUK also include "or an award of Child Tax Credit or Working Tax Credit of at least £26 for the tax year 2024-25."I've looked at the actual regulations and the AgeUK website is correct. It's probably because the list of qualifying benefits in the regulations are listed separately to child tax credit and working tax credits and someone responsible for providing the information to be published at gov.uk has just included the list of qualifying benefits and has somehow overlooked tax credits.see Regulation 2(2)(b)(ii)

Unless it's a coincidence that the page just happened to be updated today, I had sent a message to them this morning to point out they'd not included tax credits under the heading "Eligibility" (I used the "Report a problem with this page" link at the bottom of the page). If it was because of the message I sent, they were very quick to update it.

I thought it might be that the DWP check this forum for benefit advice, but quickly came to my senses as they often give naff information so can't.Robbie64 said:

It should be paid automatically if you are getting a state pension (although that was what used to happen when everyone of pension age was entitled).anotherquestion said:Thanks Robbie, You beat me to it, I was just about to post with that link., so at the moment, I still have some hope of getting it, probably would need to apply do you think.
