BritishGas - separate bills/account number for Gas and Electricity

Hello,
I have recently moved house and the energy supplier for the new property is BritishGas.
They issued me separate bills/account number for Gas and Electricity - is this normal?
They have advised that as the accounts have been created that way, they can't change it retrospectively.
Does anyone know if this would cause any issues when switching?
Any help appreciated, thanks!

Just recently encountered this on a BG account that I have power of attorney for, so as surprised as I was, yes it seems they do. Not had to switch as yet.1

I had one account number, but 2 entries on my credit file, one for gas and one for electric.0
