Faulty refurbished Apple Watch

Hey everyone I need some help please. 

I had a 2nd Generation Apple watch for around 6 nearly 7 years and the battery finally decided it wasn’t going to last the whole day. I took it into the Apple Store and asked for a new battery. They said they couldn’t replace the battery in store and would send it off. Apple decided that they couldn’t replace battery and so gave me a refurbished SE Apple Watch instead, which I was initially pleased about. I was advised that the warranty on the repair was 90 days. I figured my last watch lasted for years and so didn’t have any worries. 

However after 106 days (last week) the watch has decided it’s not going to work anymore. It won’t turn on at all. I’ve tried to reset.

I’ve tried to initiate a repair but Apple said it’s out of warranty and want £190 to look at it. A new one is £209! 

It just seems so unfair that the watch has died in a short period of time!!! 

Do I have any other recourse to complain or way to get a replacement?

So you had the original watch for over 6 - nearly 7 - years.

On what basis did the Apple Store "give" you a refurbished watch as a replacement?  Was it free?

Assuming it was free - you haven't indicated otherwise - I don't think Apple are obliged to do anything if the original purchase was over 6 years ago.
