TNC collections

Hi All,
I received my first PCN in May 2024 for parking in a space that was only for a particular shop. I went into a shop that was a few doors away. (It’s a row of shops). It was raining heavily and there were major roadworks happening on the pavement and I remember having to walk on part of the road to get to the shop as there was no pedestrian walkway. This is not my local area. I ignored the first letter and then 2 months later I received another letter with an almost doubled fine (£170). Then in August I’ve received a letter headed with NOTICE OF INTENTION TO INSTRUCT SOLICITORS.

I stupidly emailed the company to say I was abroad and thus missed the time period of the first letter. I panicked as finances have been so tough for past 8 months. They asked for evidence and I said I deleted my boarding passes.
I then pleaded with them and just told them the truth that my husband has been out of his regular work since January and that he’s currently only earning enough for us to scrape by. I said I can provide wage slips etc. I explained the roadworks situation and that I didn’t see that sign. I said they can check on the cctv cameras that there was major roadworks etc and that it’s not like I parked for a long time (1hr).
They replied back just saying the PCN is correct.
When I’ve googled TNC collections it does say they are authorised y the DVLA & BPA.

Anyone any advice please? In losing sleep over this threat of legal action.
Much much appreciated.

Trying to understand: why did you respond to a scam? It's not a fine. There was no need to take their bait at all. Ignore them.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
