Caffe Nero Discounts

There are lots of discounts available at Caffe Nero these days and I thought it would be useful to share details. It's also good to know how to use the Caffe Nero app to get stamps for free coffees etc.

These are the discount schemes I know about:

• Meerkat app

Anyone can install this and it gives you a QR code that can be used for 25% discount on barista made drinks and pastries (not cakes or other food).

• Tastecard app

You have to pay to join tastecard, but some can get free membership through their ISP and maybe other organisations. The discount is exactly the same as with the Meerkat app.

• Hyperjar

If you have a Hyperjar account (like a basic bank account, but app based) you can get Caffe Nero vouchers at 8% discount - occasionally the discount is increased beyond this. You get the discount applied on your next spend at Caffe Nero using your Hyperjar debit card, so it's slightly convoluted.

• Nectar Vouchers

You can get a voucher for a free coffee with 400 points. This reduces the price of all drinks to £2 or, depending on your point of view, £NIL as you have not had to pay anything to get the Nector points.

• Three+

Only heard about this yesterday and I believe it gives you £1 off coffees, but I've not used it.

• Caffe Nero App

The app is now the only way to get stamps towards free coffees. Once you've got 9 stamps you will automatically get a QR voucher in the app for a free coffee.

You can add payment cards and gift cards to the app and if you do this the payment and stamp is all done in one process.

How to Get the Discounts

• Tastecard & Meerkat

Once your whole order has been rung up on the till, show the server your discount QR code, and they will ask you to scan it on their code reader. The discount will be applied right away.

• Hyperjar Gift Cards

These can be used in conjunction with the Tastecard and Meerkat discounts. There are two ways of paying with these gift cards:

1. Use the QR code from the Hyperjar app
2. Link the gift card to the Caffe Nero app - you will have to manually enter the giftcard number and PIN. Doing it this way means you get the stamps automatically when you pay.

• Nectar Vouchers

QR codes for Nectar vouchers appear in the Saved section of the Nectar app. They cannot be linked to the Caffe Nero app.

• Three+

I'm not eligible for this, so don't know how it works.

You may find you have several QR codes to scan. I've found the best way is to tell the server exactly what you have and only scan your QR code when they give you the OK otherwise things can go wrong.

There may be other discounts I don't know about, and I suspect many people don't know about any of the discounts as I've rarely noticed anyone else using them.

For years I have used my Cafe Nero app alongside my Meerkat app to get points (CN) and discount (MK) and it worked a treat.  If I took my own cup I got an extra CN point too.
The at till process is:
CN app to get points
Switch to MK app for discount code
Back to CN app to pay
Since 02/09/24 I notice I have been getting no CN points
I queried this at the till and was shown a recent CN staff memo which shows that CN are no longer giving points for almost every discount scheme in which they participate
Has anyone else noticed, questioned or contacted CN or MK about this?
This will certainly affect where I get my coffee!

@cherrypuddle yeah I found this out recently and raised a support request and they said it was a bug they fixed. A two year old bug… they could have been honest that they changed the rules. To be fair it was a really good deal so not that surprising.

the discounts make is still one of the cheapest coffee places to go so I’m still going to go

Does the reusable mug stamp still work even with discounts though?

I noticed this as well this week but still got a stamp for using my own cup. A bit cheeky saying it was a bug but still a good deal.

Yes you still get the own cup stamp.
