Car insurance question

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can help me with something. I chose not to renew my car insurance with Churchill and instead went for Admiral who quoted me a fairly reasonable price. Except when I attempted to purchase it online I was told there was a problem and so needed to speak to an online advisor. Anyway to cut a long story short, Admiral upped their initial quote by about £80 after they found Churchill had recorded an incident in which a wing mirror was knocked off my car while parked outside our house. I did not however, make any claim with Churchill, I had only called them to discuss my options but did not make any claim over it and instead fixed it privately. My question is, can they even do this?

Yes, Admiral will have asked you if you've had any incidents irrespective if you made a claim or not. You appear to have "forgotten" to mention the wing mirror. The reason why DL etc log these things is because people tend to get rather forgetful (some may say try to commit fraud) and hence why CUE exists as a counter fraud database.

As above yes -  you had an 'incident' - even if you chose not to claim - you spoke to your insurance company about it, and they would have recorded it.

    Of course they can.
You 'forgot' to declare an incident that caused damage to your vehicle.
The fact you didn't claim is irrelevant, unfortunately.
