FIT Energy Payments - change of energy supplier

Options
Hi, Please can you help. We have existing Solar panels, fixed on the house when we bought it 7 years ago.  We have just purchased a solar battery, inverter and EV charger (as I am about to get an electric company car).  We are currently with British Gas for bills and the FIT Generation tariff (which is an older better paying one). We want to change to Octopus for their Flux tariff. But don't want to lose the FIT Generation tariff, how do we keep the FIT with British Gas but change supplier?  If we can keep the FIT with British Gas, will we just be placing the export tariff with Octopus? It's all a bit confusing.... Thanks in advance.

You can leave the payments with BG but switch your import to another supplier. In our previous house we were with Octopus for import and SP for FIT payments. Switching your supplier does not automatically switch FIT payments you have to do that separately if you want to do that.

We have switched supplier several times since taking out our FIT with Eon 12 years ago. It is only the supply you are changing, FIT is something totally different.
  • Thank you for your help. So we can keep our generation & Export  FIT with BG and switch to Octopus for import/supply. And FIT Generation won't change unless we authorise it to, as this was our worry.  Thanks again for your help Marksfish & Keep_Pedalling.
