No, my experience of credit card companies is not that they are ageist or anti-pensioners. Of the six cards I have at the moment, three were obtained after my retirement. One of those is the one with the highest credit limit. Then again, I don't carry a balance on any of them ...

Why do you want to transfer a balance? Why not just pay it off using the "very comfortable income" you have?
If you had applied for a 118 118 credit card your experience would be different.
With a representative interest rate of 49.9%, who in their right mind would want a 118 118 credit card??
Someone old enough to know that it would never be repaid? ;)

It's the only forex free credit builder on the market so as long as you pay in full then not such a bad deal as it seems.

Those that settle their monthly balances by the payment due date and therefore take little or no interest (unintended pun)  of such......of which there are many.
It was one of the credit cards that offered fee free transactions abroad for goods and services when I looked for one as backup a couple years back - mind you I was still in my right mind, allegedly, in 2023  :D
