Issue with walls? - Just moved in

Options
Hi all,

Apologies for the poor photo - we recently moved in to a property and the walls seem to have small dents in them, is this just poor plastering by the previous owner or something more sinister?

Thanks,
Harry

From the photo this looks at poor filling in/previous repair of damage

Dependent hw noticeable they are and over what area they extend you could either fill yourself and sand down or get area professionally reskimmed.

It's either poor plastering, or years of impact damage - knocks, scuffs and suchlike. Purely cosmetic, and certainly not an issue to be concerned about.
Very DIY-fixable with a fine surface filler and sanding.
  • Thanks guys - noticed it in various places so was worried it was something more sinister.

Looks like indents from furniture, kids playing with toys vigorously etc

I was expecting the photo to show lots of small indentations about the size of an adult knuckle and in groups of four...

Damage to the plaster by lack of care.
Get a tub of fine plaster from a diy shop and a scraper and they are easily filled in. Dries in a couple of hours. Use a sanding block to get a flat surface and paint.
I've been doing it around my house at last and it's quite fun seeing all dents go and a good as new wall :)

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Just lots of dents in the plaster, no need to be worried.

Nothing sinister. Those type of marks are typical of damage done with a scraper, when used to remove wall paper. Occasionally the scraper tip digs in and leaves straight cuts like that in the plaster.

I've had similar and used this type of filler and tool, plus a finish with fine sandpaper before painting. Works extremely well for shallow indentations.

Yes, does happen sometimes when wallpaper is scraped off.
