What REALLY is the proper Service schedule (to maintain the warranty). VW & BMW telling lies

I bought a brand new VW a few years ago.
During the PDI they should reset the service indicator on the ICE - mine came on after about 4/5 months. All this means is that like many cars they sit around in a compound before being sold to us.
Its usually every year or 10,000 miles they need a service but check the book.0 -
Typically one year or 10,000 for VAG products. Whatever the service book suggests basically. It could be due a service if it wasn't serviced before you picked it up. Services don't tend to line up with purchases unless you negotiated one as part of the deal.

For the VW (and probably BMW as well) they will likely do two service regimes. Fixed time and distance or variable.Fixed is 10K or 1 year. Whatever is first. This is my preference. I like regular servicing. My Octavia has been done on that and 7 years later has not missed a beat.Variable is up to 20K or up to 2 years. I’d leave this for fleet managers and people on fixed term leases who want to minimise maintenance costs. The choice, is up to you. But the car should be set to one of those two options.0

Just to confirm, when you say you bought a brand new car, it was a brand new, previously unregistered car? And not, for example, a car that had been pre-reg’d by the dealer but is in all other senses new?Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0
