Universal credit, disability and cash gift

Options
A disabled relative on universal credit recently inherited a house. The house is unsuitable for her to live in because of her disability and a more suitable one would cost approximately 40-80K more. Would she be able to accept this as a cash gift as it would only be used to buy a suitable home , nothing else?

Yes its not a problem, the gifted money should go straight to the solicitor dealing with the purchase, they do however need to inform UC about the property they have inherited, it maybe disregarded for capital purposes whilst the sale goes through.

If she was going to buy a house straight away, yes, but if it was going to sit in the bank, then no as it would be treated as capital, straightaway.

Are they already in a position to buy a house straight away?
