New esa decision timings

I had my assessment over the phone in July . I am continuing to supply fit notes but my gp has today asked to reassess me with a view to getting me back to work. How long does the decision take to get communicated . Plus what happens if my gp does not give me a fit note . I have been receiving fit notes since November last year . I was employed until June this year and currently on the esa basic payments awaiting decision . Thanks
