My mum remarried 20 years ago but her husbands name was never added into the house deeds so the house is solely in my mums name .  He has now had a major stroke and is unable to return home.  I have had advice from the CAB and they confirmed that my mums house will not be taken into account as when it comes to care homes it is on his assets only so his pensions, savings etc.  I have every reason to believe the CAB but just wanted to double check that this advice is correct .  Many thanks

It won’t be included in any financial assessment, and even if he was a joint owner it would be disregarded because his spouse is still living there.
