My sister is visiting from Australia & I want to add her to my car insurance for a week. We've done this in the past, but my insurance (Tesco) won't add not UK drivers, can anyone suggest the best way to do this. We've taking a long trip tomorrow & need to share the driving. Our alternative is to hire a car.

There are companies which will do add-on insurance for learner drivers; I wonder if they might also offer cover like you need.

Try searching terms such as day insurance temporary insurance or expat insurance. A few companies come up. Obviously read the details to see what applies.

Thankyou for the replies. I managed to find a quote for a temp insurance company, but it was quite expensive. We've ended up sharing a little hybrid hirecar.0
